Mighty, Mighty Texas Dog Walk 2009

In the last week I have found many things to enjoy about Austin and the surrounding areas and the 11th Annual Mighty Texas Dog Walk, to benefit Texas Hearing and Service Dogs was a definite good time for a good cause. Texas Hearing and Service Dogs trains dogs to assist Texans living with hearing or mobility challenges, and they do so free of charge, so community support is a must and donations and time volunteered directly benefit those in need. I don't know yet if they met their goal to be The World's Largest Dog Walk, taking the title from my homeland of England for the Guiness Book Of World Records (10,272 dogs walked), but stay tuned...I'm learning not to bet against Texas in any case.

There were beautiful mutts and purebreds galore and the weather could not have been better for outdoor activity with your pets. Overcast and cool, it wasn't a walk likely to overheat the furrier family members. Austin is a lovely city, diverse and green and easy to navigate, and today the dogs were as friendly as the people.

Here's some people, pets and sights from the 11th Annual Mighty Texas Dog Walk. Let the happy faces remind you to participate in your community...and your dogs can contribute too.

Local groceries H-E-B gave out free samples and one participant thought that was just the GREATEST:

Do these guys look familiar? In Austin the organization Mystery Inc, advocates and works to solve community issues through education using the Scooby-Doo cartoon as a vessel.

The folks at Camp Bow Wow were so nice!

I love Austin, Texas and every dog in it.
